Save yourself from cold and flu

Healthy Tips For Cold & Flu Season

Save yourself from cold and flu

From my many years old natural remedy collection here are a couple of tips that can help you get through clod season safely and healthfully -

Fist is that tried and true remedy that before the age of drugs most doctors and dentists recommended at the first sign of a sore throat -

Gargling with warm salt water -

As soon as you experience a sore, tickly feeling in the back of your throat start gargling with warm salt water.

Take in a mouthful of warm salt water, look up at the ceiling, and gargle aggressively. You may want to tap at your throat while gargling to encourage the warm salt water to get into the deeper areas of your throat.

Gargle several times with a glass of warm salt water, and repeat as often as possible.

Warm salt water can remove viruses from the tonsils and adenoids that line the back of your throat region. Viruses that cause colds and flus typically get caught by your tonsils and adenoids before they spread through your body. Your tonsils and adenoids are important parts of your immune system because serve as a first line of defense against microorganisms.

This is a key reason why it is best not to remove tonsils and adenoids. Chronic swelling of tonsils and adenoids is best addressed by reducing sugar intake, adopting a food plan rich in fresh plant foods, and supporting immune system health by getting plenty of rest, exercise, sunlight and fresh air.

Warm salt water tends to be more effective in removing viruses from your tonsils and adenoids. and just might help melt the fatty coating on the outside layer of cold and flu viruses.

Get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and take comfort in the fact that nature heals.

and secondly, here's a good blend of anti-viral foods that can make a health promoting tea -

Juice a selection of citrus for some serious vitamin C. Grapefruit, orange, limes, lemons, tangerine, pomelo or ugli fruit...). Find your own proportions depending on what tastes good to you but I like mine heavy on the lemons.

3 inches of ginger peeled and finely chopped

2 cloves of garlic finely chopped. You can add 1 small chopped onion and some grated or chopped fresh horse radish root if you like.

3 tablespoons raw honey. Darker honey contains more vitamin C gut can have a stronger taste.

Pinch of cayenne powder and a spoonful of raw apple cider vinegar.

Add ginger, garlic, and onion to a saucepan and bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 5 minutes.

Strain and add to your fresh juice. Then stir along with the cayenne and ACV.

Sip slowly.

Remember too that citrus is very helpful to keep your liver well cleansed.
