Practical Exercises to Prepare for Healing
Meditation practices to learn how to sensitize yourself to feel subtle energies for Healing Work
Practical Exercises - Feeling Energy
PRACTICAL
For Homeopathy
Whether it is in choosing the right remedy for a child who is teething, or for a more complex case, the method of finding the remedy is the same. One needs to take notice of all the signs that the patient is showing you. To do this you need to calm yourself and observe from a point of detachment yet still be in a compassionate state. This is one of the main attributes of a good Healer, and in particular a good Homeopath.
For Other Forms of Healing
The following exercises are particularly helpful in becoming sensitized to subtle energies to help Nature heal people.
THE ETHERIC BODY
When you are looking at a person who is ill you need to take in the whole person. How their energy feels as well as how they look and act. Each living being is surrounded by a subtle energy body, called the Etheric body. This energy body is the invisible double of the human body. It is an exact counterpart of our physical body vibrating at a different level and extends about one and one-half inches beyond the periphery of the physical body. It appears as a bluish-grey colour or shadow and is responsible for the transfer of life energy or vitality from the universal energy field to the physical body. It is the basic blue print for the physical body. Every cell in the physical body has an Etheric counterpart. When the flow of this energy is disrupted, the physical body is affected and if this imbalance is not corrected, illness and disease can manifest in the physical body.
EXERCISE 1 - Etheric Body Stimulation and Empowering
Becoming aware of the calm centre which resides within you
This exercise stimulates the healing power of the etheric energy body, bringing you better health. It is from this place of stillness that you see life more clearly and this is especially helpful when you are trying to choose the correct remedy for one who is sick.
1) Sit quietly and comfortably and become aware of your own physical body.
2) Take several deep breaths and as you do, feel your mind and body becoming quieter.
3) Focus your attention on the ground beneath your feet. Keep the attention focussed there for a short period of time. Be aware of anything you may experience while concentrating on the ground beneath your feet. It may be an emotional feeling, which you feel in your heart or diaphragm, or you may become aware of the space between your feet and the ground beneath them. Just watch how your mind and body respond to the exercise.
4) While you are sitting start to take notice of the different feelings that your body and mind are experiencing. Become aware of the ground beneath your feet and then move your thoughts to your feet themselves. Try to feel the difference between the two. Does one feel different to the other? Do your feet tingle or have any particular sensation? Is there a space between your feet and the ground? Don't analyse, just be aware.
5) Now focus your attention completely on your feet. Just the feet. Be aware of your toes, the balls of your feet, the arch, then feel the whole foot. Are you aware of the inside of your physical foot? Can you feel anything? Is there a tingling, or warmth, or is it pulsating. Everyone feels something different.
6) Once you become aware of the feeling within your foot, not the physical foot itself, try to bring that feeling up the legs and through the whole body. Be aware of the energy of this feeling. If you find you are thinking too much, bring your attention back to the feet and practice section (4) again. As you do this exercise slowly moving through your body, you may find there are areas where the energy appears to stop. If this happens, breathe slowly, and allow your attention to stay on that spot, keeping the feeling of the energy as stable as you can. It may take several attempts before you can feel the energy flowing totally through your whole physical form. Once you have achieved this, stay for as long as you have time to allow the healing to take place. Imagine the energy gently pulsating with sparkling light through and around your physical body.
7) While you are in this space, become aware of the place of balance within your body. It is usually at a spot near your physical navel, but you may find that it is in another area. Concentrate on that spot. This is your power place. Slowly breathe in and out for a few minutes. Feel the peace expanding through your body and out into your surroundings. Once you have found your own power spot you can bring your attention back to it at any time during the day. It is the still place within you.
8) When you are ready to stop the exercise, take several deep breaths, becoming aware of your nose and the breath coming in and out. Bring your attention back to the present time, be aware of the room around you. Slowly open your eyes.
EXERCISE 2 - Becoming aware of Subtle Healing Energies
Practice this exercise in every day life. When you are at the shops. When your family comes home. Out in the garden. Etc. The aim of this exercise is to become aware of your own centre. Often, in daily life, and especially when you are doing healing work, you can become drained by the energy of other people. It is as though the energy is sucked out of you. This can happen very quickly, and you may suddenly feel very drained. If this happens in your life, remember to bring your attention to the place of power within your own body.
1) Become aware of your present surroundings. The room you are in. The people in the room, etc. Can you sense anything? What are you feeling?
2) Now become aware of your Place of Power within your own body. Again, look at your surroundings, the people, animals, etc. Can you sense anything? Are you more aware without being drawn into their energy? Do you feel calmer than before?
3) Practice this exercise when you go to the shops, are at work or in any, and all situations. Eventually you will be able to find your own place of peace in any place at any time.
4) Practice makes perfect. So… the more you practice this exercise the easier it will be for you to cope with the problems faced in daily life.
YOUR POWER PLACE
The more you practice the exercise above, the more you will be able to place yourself into your real centre in all situations in life. This point of awareness is especially important when you are intending to do any healing work. It is from this point that you can perceive things clearly. As a healer you will need to know energetically what belongs to you and what doesn’t. Often the emotional turmoil that surrounds some people is very strong. This energy can cling to you if you do not take proper precautions. If you find that you are holding an energy that is uncomfortable then surround it with love. This loving energy will purify and heal not only the patient but also that which is in yourself that resonates to this energy. You will find that you should not need to do anything else. The negative energy will dissipate. If the negative feeling does not dissipate immediately you may have to keep sending love until it dissipates. The ability to feel love builds up with practice. So the more you do it the more beneficial it will be for yourself as well as those around you.
