HOMEOPATHY FOR BEGINNERS Part 9

Individual Remedies - P to T

HOMEOPATHY FOR BEGINNERS Part 9

PHOSPHORUS

Tall, slender persons, narrow chested, with thin, transparent skin, weakened by loss of animal fluids, with great nervous debility, emaciation, amative tendencies, seem to be under the special influence of Phosphorus. Great susceptibility to external impressions, to light, sound, odours, touch, electrical changes, thunder-storms. Anxious heart palpitations occur from mental excitement, emotions, and after meals. After eating, the blood rushes to the heart and palpitations are violent. Congestive heart failure and hypertension may occur. Other symptoms are yellowish, devitalized skin; thirst for cold water; increased appetite and lack of proper assimilation; a tendency to chest colds and haemorrhages; tingling in the fingertips; and heavy legs that feel like logs of wood.

MIND: The Phosphorus personality is lively and outgoing with the keynotes of great impressionability and sensitivity to other persons' vibrations and expressions. These patients' aura or ethereal field picks up any aggression, threats, or other psychosocial disturbance, and they may suffer deeply in their core from such impact.  They can also develop a low threshold to worries under stress and can exhibit vehement and angry outbursts which are later followed by exhaustion and remorse.

MAIN INDICATIONS:

PULSATILLA

Pulsatilla is known for being aggravated on lying down.  Overeating may appeal to these patients in their quest for nourishment and richness of affection. Hormonal fluctuations, such as the mental/emotional imbalance and the menstrual irregularities, determine much of the symptomatology.  Mucus or pus from colds, ears, eyes or wounds is often yellow and thick.  Glandular swellings.  Loss of smell, ringing in the ears.

MIND: Pulsatilla need a lot of nurturing and can become excessively overwrought and nervous, especially after a loss in affection or attention. In their effort to keep things together, these patients develop fastidiousness and preoccupation with trifles; problems cannot be shaken off easily and become fixated thinking patterns on going to sleep. Over and over again, the mind repeats the same dilemma; or in better times, it may just be a tune that runs repeatedly through the mind and will not abide. They are often weepy and clingy and are motivated by the desire to be consoled and pampered.  Pulsatilla has a changeable and contradictory nature, seeks emotional closeness with others, is generally gentle and yielding though can get very irritable.

Relief is only experienced from continual motion.   If any illness occurs after a drenching by a shower of rain or by getting wet in any way, be it aches and pains, influenza, or any complaint, acute or chronic, this remedy is worth remembering.

There may also be anxious preoccupation with money and health.  Sepia is characterized by indifference and a tendency to retreat from those loved best, the family especially is causing great irritability.
